Step 1: Opt-Out of Spam/Marketing Calls/Emails
When we conduct a credit inquiry, the three major credit bureaus may share your contact information with various mortgage companies. This often results in an influx of unsolicited communications from these companies targeting individuals whose credit has recently been assessed.
While I do not provide your personal contact details to the credit bureaus, they typically possess this information already. To minimize the chances of receiving such communications, you may wish to register with the National Do Not Call Registry at https://www.donotcall.gov/. The registration process is quick and takes only about 60 seconds.
Credit Freezes
If your credit reports are currently frozen, please consider unfreezing them. We probably won't need the freeze lifted for more than a few days, but to avoid any potential need to do it again, you might want to unfreeze it for a period of 45 days.
